By Stephen C. Schultz
As Father's Day comes around each year, I find myself reflecting on the legacy of my father, R. Conrad Schultz. Looking back over his life, one word comes to mind—FATHER. Not simply because he was my father, but because the word itself describes the qualities that defined him.
F—Faithful
My father's life is anchored in faith. He love's the Lord, trusts His promises, and remains steadfast through seasons of joy and adversity. Faith is not something he merely professes; it is something he lives.
A—Authentic
There was no difference between the public man and the private man. Whether serving in Church leadership, practicing law, or sitting around the dinner table with family, he was genuine. He valued truth, honesty, and sincerity, and those who knew him best knew exactly where he stood.
T—Teacher
Dad taught constantly, often without realizing it. Through stories, scriptures, humor, fishing trips, and simple conversations, he taught principles rather than merely giving advice. More than anything, he taught by example. His life became the lesson.
H—Honorable
Integrity mattered to him. He believed character was built by doing what was right, especially when no one was watching. He treated people with respect, honored commitments, and lived according to principles rather than convenience.
E—Earnest
He approached life with sincerity and purpose. Whether serving others, raising his family, or fulfilling Church assignments, he gave his whole heart. He wasn't interested in recognition; he was interested in being useful and faithful.
R—Resolute
Dad possessed quiet determination. He faced challenges with conviction and perseverance. He was steady, dependable, and unwavering in his commitment to God, family, and the work he had been called to do.
As I have grown older, I have come to appreciate that fathers do not have to be perfect to leave a lasting legacy. They simply need to be present, faithful, and willing to love.
Positions and titles eventually fade. Accomplishments become memories. But character endures.
Many of my memories of Dad involve rivers, fishing poles, family adventures, and lessons that continue to shape me. Some of those experiences have found their way into stories I have shared over the years.

When I think of my father, I think of a man who was Faithful, Authentic, a Teacher, Honorable, Earnest, and Resolute.
In other words, I think of a FATHER.
Happy Father's Day, Dad.
Thank you for the life you lived, the example you set, and the legacy you continue to leave behind.
Love,
Steve
